Habitat & hatch

Found in rivers, tailwaters, and lake littoral zones, most commonly in riffles, runs, and bank. Larvae on bottom or in vegetation; adults on surface. Evening emergence common; adults skitter across the surface; egg-laying females dip to water.

Timing

Individual emergence windows typically last 14 to 30 days. Strongest surface activity occurs around the evening, and dusk.
